my point: if they own a patent we could make it so that then anyone could use it freely without worrying. That would be a 'moratorium' on just their patents.

I don't think it's good to void all patents for anyone. But patents collected by a criminal enterprise? It's complicated because maybe some of them ought to go back to whoever got duped into selling it, or who had it stolen from them (that is probably a lot of the patents in that portfolio ).
I think that the patents that they collected ought to be made like what Ben Franklin did for his invention, The Lightning Rod, anyone should be able to use it freely,
for all of the patents that are seized. Otherwise the money goes to gov and that gets looted like all the Patent royalties from the California colleges are by the State of California.
Political entities ought not be able to own patents and all things developed collectively by governance ought to be free to use by anyone unencumbered. That's called progress. Ben Franklin understood.
