In the bible times, the nation of Israel was occupied by Rome. Rome had no problem with its conquered territories running their own religions; they were a highly polytheistic society themselves. The basic problem in Judaism is the misunderstanding of why God gave God's Law to Moses. The people swore on their lives that they would keep God's Law, even though they were currently worshiping a golden calf, and had to have a second copy made up in order to preserve their lives. After that, they needed animal sacrifices to atone for, or cover up, their sins. If the High Priest in the land performed the sacrifices properly, the nation would remain under the Old Covenant for another year. They would not call it the Old Covenant, as they refuse to recognize the New Covenant, so it is just the Covenant of Moses to them. They in fact virtually deified Moses, which is why God did not allow the devil to have Moses' remains. Coming out of Egypt, the Hebrews would have known how to embalm Moses, and they would be worshiping the embalmed Moses that day, and every day, to this day. So God took the body of Moses and hid it.

So why did God give the Law to the Hebrews?

What did the Hebrews gain by following the law and sacrifices?

What did the Hebrews stand to lose by their failure to follow the Law?

Is the Old Covenant still in effect, and if not, when did it expire?

Did God's promise to Abraham get nullified by the Covenant with Moses 400 years later?

Antichrist, War, Pestilence, Famine. Quick. And distinct acts, not symbolic of anything other than "the four horsemen are going to ride out, and death shall be in their wake. Death, and War, and Famine, and Pestilence."

All of that will happen prior to the Fifth Seal, and all of the Seals will happen within that three and a half year period, the time and times and half a time; i.e. the first half of the Great Tribulation, the Seventieth Week of Daniel.
