The doctor has to stay within the standard of care for the condition, if the remedy you request is not in the standard of care, they could prescribe it but they then leave themselves open to getting in trouble from the AMA. That's why doctors all stick with the same useless treatments. they have to do that if they want to maintain their careers and keep paying their student loans, house payments, etcetera….
