I might add it fitting I suppose that bham was were this was launched… politically its like Austin (blue) of Alabama (red). that old skynard bit about Birmingham loving the governor, goes back to the city's role in civil rights contra gov. George Wallace. as payback he ensured no interstate would go through the city instead interstates would circumvent. check it out on a map. Also, very smug blue attitude, although being from deeper in South, I was taken aback that race relations seemed, to me at least, less well addressed. my take after living there is as desegregation occured the affluent took exodus to Mountain Brook in lieu of getting past any social issues that could benefit from resolution.
