re. moral training and leadership of Sandmann, his conduct was in line with what MLK outlines, in his letter from Birmingham Jail, as non-violent direct action. I don't know which if any of those students had studied the LFBJ, but it's not an uncommon text for American Lit/US History. 11th graders I teach do it every year.
