I'm not discounting either one; As a matter of fact, even just concatenating the two statements into one by adding the ";" and deleting the period and <CRsuch as you've done, leads to yet a third way of inferring a given meaning from the two lines ending in periods. :)

I'm simply pointing out why adding even a single word, or changing a set of statement's formatting even, can change the meaning of a set of statements.
