The constitution and the foundations its built on (freedom and limited gov) is the glue that holds America together. They are going back to their roots to put it simply.

We have nothing here and as for the intellectual and philosophical understanding of government and freedom - well we are waaaaay behind the ball on this.

You are right, we will go through pain but to become enlightened on the other end is going to take a while……and i mean a while.

Me thinks that people will want to continue down the road of democracy even after we seperate from the monarchy.

Bill Shorten to offer Julie Bishop diplomatic post if elected

The swamp doing what it does best, I wonder where she will get her posting to? UK?

Two sides of the same coin. Same fucking players. Every single time ffs.

Julie Bishop’s chances of a plum diplomatic post overseas — if and when she quits Federal politics — have improved, courtesy of one of her most bitter rivals.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said yesterday he would consider current and former senior Liberal MPs when filling prominent roles if he were to become prime minister.

Ms Bishop has been mooted as a candidate for an overseas role post-politics as rumours about her future beyond this year’s election have swirled. The former foreign minister has maintained that she intends to run in her Curtin electorate after being pre-selected as the Liberal candidate.

Mr Shorten told Seven News last night that, if elected, he would consider some of his fiercest political enemies — including former prime ministers Malcolm Turnbull, Tony Abbott and John Howard — for government roles heading inquiries or diplomatic posts.

“I would be open to utilising former prime ministers and people of Julie Bishop’s calibre if the right proposition came up,” Mr Shorten said.

He ruled out settling Manus or Nauru asylum seekers in Australia as prime minister and backed himself to win Liberal support to lock Parliament to four-year fixed terms.

“I’d need them (the Liberals) to think about it, but you know what? I’m a persuasive fella,” he said.
