It sounds plausible re Stanislav Lunev.

 

What would the CIA do with a high-value Soviet defector after debriefing him. Someone expert in the spy game and propaganda. They couldn’t just give him a job in CIA headquarters as he could be a double-agent.

 

Why not a new identity and a well-paid job in the media where he can be an ongoing asset and write propaganda books like The Bridge.

 

Makes sense.
