POTUS quite dramatically 'backed down' (according MSM) to NP over SOTU not going ahead while there was a shutdown.

NP now has to block SOTU with no shutdown.

Her next move is to leave the country for that trip. That however will reinforce to moderate Dems that she is not cut out for the role of speaker (inability to manage) and that the D party is disfunctional.

The next phase is all about highlighting the need for Democratic Party reform (something which hopefully doesn't happen before 2020). Nothing to do with the wall or the SOTU.

I'd be willing to bet the new MAGA Democratic 2024 president is already in place.
