Optics matter - and right now Ds appear to have won the Shutdown Showdown. People aren’t believing the promises of R politicians- especially since they have failed on big items in the past (think Obamacare repeal, fat omnibus, etc). The reality is - the public perception is Ds get their way and Rs cave to pressure. Been that way for YEARS, not just with DJT.
