U.S. Plans To Keep Forces In Syria’s Al-Tanaf – Report

The U.S. is considering a plan to keep some forces in the al-Tanaf base in southeastern Syria to counter “Iranian activities,” despite President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw all American troops from the war-torn country, the Foreign Policy magazine reported on January 25 citing officials.

“Al-Tanaf is a critical element in the effort to prevent Iran from establishing a ground line of communications from Iran through Iraq through Syria to southern Lebanon in support of Lebanese Hezbollah,” a former senior U.S. military commander told the Washington-based magazine.

More than 200 U.S. service members are deployed in al-Tanaf base, which is located near Syria’s border with Iraq and Jordan. Washington claim that its troops are training and advising the local Revolutionary Commando Army to counter the threat of ISIS, which contradict with their real intention that’s countering the supposed Iranian threat.

It remains unclear how the U.S. will justify its decision to keep troops in al-Tanaf after the defeat of ISIS, especially that Iran is a state actor. Even the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is not designated as a terrorist group by Washington. Officials told Foreign Policy that marinating a military presence there will pose a legal challenge to Trump’s administration.

Beside this legal challenge, the U.S. is also facing a humanitarian challenge as their presence in al-Tanaf is blocking much need aid for thousands of displaced civilians in the nearby al-Rukban camp.

On top of all of these challenges, Washington’s main proxy in al-Tanaf, the Revolutionary Commando Army, is known to be incompetent and lacking any moral grounds. Recently, Syrian activists revealed that the group’s spokesman was caught raping a 10-year old girl from the al-Rukban camp.

The mainstream media is clearly trying to promote the need to keep the U.S. military presence in al-Tanaf.

On January 25, Reuters released an article titled “Exclusive: Kremlin-linked contractors help guard Venezuela’s Maduro – sources“. The article speculates that Russian private military contractors were deployed in Venezuela to support the government of President Nicolás Maduro.

“Private military contractors who do secret missions for Russia flew into Venezuela in the past few days to beef up security for President Nicolas Maduro in the face of U.S.-backed opposition protests, according to two people close to them.

A third source close to the Russian contractors also told Reuters there was a contingent of them in Venezuela, but could not say when they arrived or what their role was.

Yevgeny Shabayev, leader of a local chapter of a paramilitary group of Cossacks with ties to Russian military contractors, said he had heard the number of Russian contractors in Venezuela may be about 400.

But the other sources spoke of small groups.

Citing contacts in a Russian state security structure, Shabayev said the contingent flew to Venezuela at the start of this week, a day or two before opposition protests started.

He said they set off in two chartered aircraft for Havana, Cuba, from where they transferred onto regular commercial flights to Venezuela. The Cuban government, a close ally of Venezuela’s ruling socialists for the last two decades, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The contractors’ task in Venezuela was to protect Maduro from any attempt by opposition sympathizers in his own security forces to detain him, Shabayev said.

“Our people are there directly for his protection,” he said.”

From this quote it becomes clear that the only real source of Reuters’ data is claims by Shabayev. Reuters described him as the “leader of a local chapter of a paramilitary group of Cossacks”. This “local chapter” is the cossacks association “Khorvino”. Khorvino is a small district in the Northern Administrative Okrug [region] of Moscow. Informed Russian sources describe Shabayev as a local “urban madman”, who became relateively known in the media for his attempts to speculate on the topic of the so-called private military company Wagner.

'Europe is giving us eight days? Where do you get that you have the power to establish a deadline or an ultimatum to a sovereign people,' Arreaza told the Security Council. 'It's almost childlike.'

Sex trafficking incident sparks girls shelter investigation

The Davenport Shelter for girls located on E. Grand Blvd in Detroit is a state licensed facility for wards of the state - and it is now being investigated.

Thursday night Fox 2 reported that two teenage girls who had run away from Davenport were abducted and later found safe. Police say their kidnappers are sex traffickers and that one of the girls was sexually assaulted.

“They said they had a gun to her head, and was going to kill her, she didn't want to go to Atlanta,” Ronnie Bailey said whose granddaughter was abducted.

“I woke up this morning and seen it and was like whoa, that’s where my sister lives, something has to be done,” Nathen Spiller said.

Something is being done, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services releasing this statement saying,

“The Division of Child Welfare Licensing at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services today began a special investigation of Davenport Shelter as a result of the information that surfaced yesterday. The department will conduct an expeditious and through investigation.”

“They don't watch the kids they sit there and stay inside they don't really keep a close tab like they should be because they’re 15, 16-year-old girls,” Spiller said.

Nathen Spillers 17-year old sister has been staying at Davenport for about a year.

“She's scared to walk down to the party store, she saying that guy there is trying to do sexual things with her for money,” he said.

The Davenport Shelter is state licensed but it’s privately owned.

Fox 2’s Randy Wimbley spoke with a Davenport employee Thursday night.

A department of Health and Human Services spokesperson says they have had complaints about Davenport in the past.
