Moreover, if there are backdoors in all your electronic devices (there are), it may be possible that these kinds of weapons "fire" from inside our own house.

POTUS can undoubtedly authorize, if needed for reasons of national security. They probably just peeked at the source code and compiled modules, and analyzed it for vulnerabilities. Not sure what was corrected, but my guess is that it may have been an uncorrected buffer-overflow vulnerability. Good that it's been corrected.
