This might be a tangent but there's a "Sea to Shining Sea" bike ride that goes across the country to benefit wounded warriors.
1st stage goes from the Presidio (wasn't Aquino based there?) to Yountville Vets Home in Napa where there was a shooting last year.

Lots of potential spoopy groups involved with non-profit (e.g. Booz Allen) but could be a detour.
