From what I read, adrenochrome can be synthesized.
So if it were "only" for getting high a bit on adrenochrome, one wouldn't have to go full sadist.
Organ trading, baby blood (and it's possible effects), stem cells whatever is plausible.
Just saying that adrenochrome alone (w/o any, for example, ritualistic background or other reasons) would not be worth the hustle probably, esp. if money doesn't play any role.
