Wilson Bryan Key documented the ubiquitous use for subliminal technologies in both advertising and editorial media in the 1980s and the advertising and “entertainment” industry at that time made a significant effort to deny, distract and confuse the public, trotting out paid experts to dismiss the possibility that subliminals were ever widely used or could ever hope to be effective. Any academic researcher who shines light on the area will likely find themselves subject to a sophisticated IO attack to discredit them and their work.
Since Wilson Bryan Key’s day, fMRI has confirmed in a multitude of ingenious ways that habits, hunches, and conditioned responses, the unconscious, is responsible for all non-formal decision making and even complex, rational, logic driven human decision-making has an intuitive component which anyone involved with the advertising, marketing research or media knows. For this reason, tactics and technologies which reliably influence the unconscious are used by advertisers; national, regional and local media are freighted with sounds, symbols unperceived messages targeting consumer’s unconscious, to be retained and held in memory to influence future decision-making. Dr. Charles Kamp of the FCC testified (back in the 80s) that there is doubt among scientists about the effectiveness of subliminal techniques, though he also testified he was not at liberty to discuss Defense Department research on the subject.
Most of what we see hear feel smell doesn’t reach conscious awareness but some we know is retained, stored in memory to predictably influence our future behavior. Some writers on the subject use the term “subconscious” to refer to the unconscious component of mind. The term while familiar erroneously implies hierarchal subordination of “sub” conscious to conscious mind, is misleading and shouldn’t be used. The unconscious mind is what lies on the other side of a shifting perceptual border dividing what we know we know from what we think we know.
The reason subliminal messaging tactics targeting the unconscious are seldom discussed, is not because such tactics are ineffective and rarely used but because they are effective, essential to the function of advertising supported media and ubiquitous in use. Subliminal advertising is illegal, though the never used laws are likely unenforceable, as the entire business model of advertising supported media depends on the nullity of all such regulation. The manipulation of individuals, identity groups and national populations for political as well as economic reason is critical to “national security.” Subliminals are key to that manipulation.

Deceptions propagated by media, accumulate. When residual lies are formulated as social dogma, and represented forcefully by media as orthodox reality, we must wholly accept, as good citizens, or entirely reject lies, as immoral fools, traitors, and lunatics do. Since the 1980s advertising and media content targeting viewer unconscious has been augmented by techniques like hypnotic induction p and subsonic acoustics; the power of the exploits, the tactics evolved, and the depth of their reach has been enhanced by the advent of networked media technologies. VR and Mixed Reality technologies present an acute threat to consciousness because of the ease with which control can be imposed over consciousness and course of future human development. Experiments have shown information introduced below user awareness was retained and shown to subsequently influence viewer behavior.
Commerce needs consumers, advertising makes consumers, and without advertising the economic system won't run. Advertising is vigorously defended; some assert advertising is constitutionally protected free speech. Maybe the overt content is, IDK But the right to place subliminal sex and death embeds in advertising and editorial media to elicit emotional response and influence future purchasing or voting choices – that’s NOT protected. Advertising is a satanist industry because occult technology is all about influencing people in ways they are NOT aware of. The viewers laugh a long with the sitcom Bewitched’s laugh track, witches in advertising, hah hah, it amuses the satanists to see themselves harmlessly caricatured. Ad industry satanists point to consumers so brain washed they will fight for the right of the ad industry poison them with media which control their behavior.
