Only go if you have a compelling reason to take on debt. As others said, learn a trade. Electricians, plumbers, contractors are in need and turn away jobs in many places. Start your own business. You may want to self study or take some small business courses. College is fun, but only necessary really depending on what you want to do…but don't to it "just because"

The fact you are here at 18 says a lot about you. I'm impressed. You're years ahead of the sheep. Figure out what you want to do and make it happen.

Lots of good advice here…you're ahead of the game already. Middle aged anon here and no idea what I want to do. I hate having a "job". Wish I studied science, architecture or engineering, but I got rotten advice and negativity. Didn't have the conviction to go my own way at your age, plus was trying to pursue pro baseball through college.

IF there are any people who changed careers or started a business mid life chime in. I'm fucking lost…but debt free. Nobody wants to hire someone middle aged unless your resume is stellar or you know someone.

Good ideas. I saw concrete countertops (dyed and shit can be mixed in to look less industrial, but even it was expensive. Countertops are one of those things that are overpriced. I did butcherblock myself on my last house (Ikea), but was high maintenance.
