If you take the original translation from the Bible of the word "Satan", it is often used in a plural form "Satanas", meaning adversary or adversaries. Lucifer was the highest of the fallen ones, but I believe Satanas were the council of 200 fallen angels that the book of Enoch refers to. They answer to Lucifer.
