This threat was publicly known back in the 80 & 90s.

There were many many articles and stories on this.

I did have archives from then (long gone) but from what I remember this was being addressed, for sure in the military and from what I remember even civilian electronics where being ruggedized to resist this.

So WTF happened and what's the real story?
