I am an expert at rendering animation stuff - and it's exploded in the recent decade in quality - I actually think the stranglehold the bad guys have had slowing down tech was purposefully stopped just to create this world where near realistic videos can exist solely to debunk blackmail vids.

I actually wonder if the "deep"fakes - coincides with the use of deep rendering tech which was first used in Avatar. It's an amazing technological achievement first invented as a way to tackle the problem of rendering real looking hair. - ok I don't want to nerd out too much about it but what I know about the history of rendering really does make me think what I said is true.
