we are at the end of an interglacial period.

whether it ends in 500 years or 5 years is a total unknown.

but end it likely will, based on historical evidence.

everything north of Texas be uninhabitable, much less growing anything.

sea level drops hundreds of feet.

intradasting times….

but there are some interesting maps of sea levels during the last interglacial - easy dig if you are interested.

FL would gain territory bigly.

if glaciers come, expect Canadians to become Americans bigly, and Russians to all pile into Crimea…KEK!

intradasting!

I got a short story published a few years ago in an anthology set post-apocalyptic.

good luck with your story, and remember two things: characters need reasons to think/act and characters matter - don't get lost in the plot!

my biggest beef with most post-apocalypse writing is that the characters do stupid things (exposing themselves to marauding bands for no decent reason) and somehow escape unscathed from everything bad…

not that long anon.

take a look at the marsh in Louisiana - currently flooded and brackish. In 10-15 years, plants make the changeover to freshwater.

the soil would be rich, black marine shale - gumbo - and the saltwater squeezed out of it by compression.

majorly fertile.

there are huge reasons human population remains coastal to this day…

was a 3-way tie between Chicago, LA and NYC for which was the modern Sodom…

looks like NYC went in for the win.

I am expecting a lot more upstate NY Anons migrating soon…

a lot of this is due to awakening - people are pissed about their "fact-bubbles" being burst.

proximity also - people in cities more often feel put upon.

and then there is the entire internet speed of things today - no time to digest facts or sort them before more come at you…

just thinking of other, less dire reasons Anon…

far too many variables in play here Anon.

more than one reason likely, but one is strongest and holds the other dominoes back.

agree with haline current being involved, but it is shut down by what possible things?
