At age 15, Bobby Fischer had an IQ between 180-187. He believed in numerous "conspiracy theories".
Most people are aware of his antisemetic views, but other things may not be so well known. Everything from Tooth fillings, to satanical secret world government, to 9-11. He was a fascinating man.
Bobby’s convictions were as numerous as his fears. He feared that the Russian government was out to kill him. He feared that the Soviet agents could transmit damaging rays into his brain through a metal implant in his teeth. Thus, he replaced his dental fillings.
He had this weird belief that everything in the world was controlled by the hidden hand of the satanical secret world government.
Bobby was extremely opinionated and had strong odd convictions. Regardless of his mother’s practice of the Jewish religion, Bobby never failed to express his hatred for the Jews. He shared anti-Semitic views and even applauded Nazism.
Bobby was not a fan of education. He thought school was a waste of time and he sure didn’t waste his time on it. Bobby dropped out of school at the age of 16. Afterwards, he self-schooled himself.
Bobby had no faith in doctors and drugs. He grossly distrusted them and as such, refused to get the medical help he direly needed.
In a live interview on Hungarian radio, he said: "As Adolf Hitler wrote in Mein Kampf, the Jews are not the victims, they are the victimisers!", before launching into a Holocaust-denying rant.
Fischer was born a Jew
He cut off his phone, played chess on his own and spurned the friends who visited him. He started quoting the infamous antisemitic fabrication "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion", even at dinner with his sister, her Jewish husband and children.
Shortly after midnight on September 12, 2001, Philippines local time (approximately four hours after the September 11, 2001 attacks in the US), Fischer was interviewed live by Pablo Mercado on the Baguio City station of the Bombo Radyo network. Fischer stated that he was happy that the airliner attacks had happened, while expressing his view on United States and Israeli foreign policy, saying "I applaud the act. Look, nobody gets … that the US and Israel have been slaughtering the Palestinians … for years." He also said "The horrible behavior that the US is committing all over the world … This just shows you, that what goes around, comes around even for the United States." Fischer also referenced the movie Seven Days in May and said he hoped for a military coup d'état in the US, "[I hope] the country will be taken over by the military—they'll close down all the synagogues, arrest all the Jews, execute hundreds of thousands of Jewish ringleaders."
In 1999, he gave a radio call-in interview to a station in Budapest, Hungary, during which he described himself as the "victim of an international Jewish conspiracy". In another radio interview, Fischer said that it became clear to him in 1977, after reading The Secret World Government by Count Cherep-Spiridovich, that Jewish agencies were targeting him.
Fischer was also upset that UBS bank had liquidated his assets and closed his account without his permission. When asked who he thought was responsible for the actions UBS had taken Fischer replied, "There's no question that the Jew-controlled United States is behind this — that's obvious."
Despite his views, Fischer remained on good terms with Jewish chess players.
