Donald Trump: Paul Ryan Promised Wall Funding and Failed to Deliver
Trump said ex-speaker Paul Ryan failed to deliver funding for a wall on the Southern border, despite a promise to do so.
The president said Ryan begged him not to veto the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill in March 2018, promising wall funding in another bill.
“Paul told me in the strongest of terms that, ‘Please sign this and if you sign this we will get you that wall,'” Trump recalled in an interview with the Daily Caller.

Trump reportedly is considering tapping Herman Cain to fill one of the two vacant seats on the Federal Reserve’s board.
Bloomberg News first reported the news, citing unnamed sources. CNBC says it has confirmed that Trump is considering Cain.
Cain, 73, served as a director on the board of the Kansas City Fed from 1992-1996. He eventually rose to become chairman of the board. He had been a board member of the Omaha branch of the Kansas City Fed since 1989.

Venezuela: Socialists Arrest, Disappear Journalists to Prevent Protest Coverage
Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela has arrested 11 journalists the past two days, including two teams of Spanish and French journalists “disappeared” into a political prison for 24 hours on Wednesday.
The Spanish team, working with the newswire service EFE, resurfaced Thursday afternoon after being forced into “El Helicoide,” the 1960s shopping-mall-turned-prison the Maduro regime uses to house its most prominent political prisoners. Maduro’s foreign minister, Jorge Arreaza, issued a statement condemning international media outlets for sending journalists to cover the current wave of protests in the country that resulted in the legal ouster of Maduro’s regime, replaced as mandated by the Venezuelan constitution with the head of the nation’s federal legislature.
President Juan Guaidó called for protests Wednesday to demand Maduro, who still controls the military, allow humanitarian aid in the country. Guaidó’s tenure as interim president turned a week old Wednesday after he swore an oath of office publicly on January 23, the anniversary of the establishment of a democratic Venezuela in 1958.

Jizhong Chen was arrested by FBI agents a day before he was scheduled to fly to China to begin work with a China-based autonomous vehicle company and direct competitor of Apple’s vehicle project.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) told an interviewer Tuesday that she “almost chuckle[s]” at the idea that Israel is a democracy because it is a “Jewish state.”
Omar, who has a long history of anti-Israel rhetoric, was speaking with Zainab Salbi of Yahoo! News.
She argued that U.S. foreign policy was biased toward Israel over the Palestinians, saying that it had “always been aggravating to me” that “we have had a policy that makes one superior to the other, and we mask it with a conversation that’s about justice, and a two-state solution, when you have policies that clearly prioritize one over the other.”
