Contents of 'suicide' notes revealed as judge orders ex-'Jerry Springer' producer to answer murder, animal cruelty charges

Former “Jerry Springer” producer Jill Blackstone must stand trial for allegedly killing her deaf and partially blind sister in a murder-suicide scheme gone “awry,” a Los Angeles judge ruled Wednesday.

The judge’s ruling capped a lengthy hearing that revealed new details in the bizarre case – including the contents of the so-called “suicide” note found near victim Wendy Blackstone’s hand and disturbing signs Jill Blackstone admittedly plastered outside their North Hollywood garage.

The signs, affixed prominently to a large trash can positioned at the entrance, were essentially grim instructions for first responders, prosecutors allege.

They warned the parties to “enter carefully” because inside the garage they would find two dead women and three dead dogs poisoned by a lit barbecue grill, prosecutors claim.

Authorities claim Blackstone, who also worked on the “The Rosie O’Donnell Show” and Sally Jessy Raphael’s “Sally,” was at her wit’s end caring for her disabled and dependent sister and killed her by burning highly toxic charcoal in a Weber grill and metal trash can inside their garage.

US court orders Syria to pay $300M for death of journalist Marie Colvin

The family of renowned war correspondent Marie Colvin, who was killed in 2012 while covering the Syrian revolution, has been awarded more than $300 million in damages — which Syria has to pay.

A US District Court judge found the Syrian government at fault late Wednesday night for Colvin’s widely-reported death. The verdict was unsealed in Washington.

“The challenge now is going to be enforcing the judgment,” said Scott Gilmore, lawyer for the Colvin family. “The precedents show that it is possible to recover assets.”

Speaking to reporters, Gilmore called Colvin’s death “an assassination.”

The 56-year-old journalist — who worked for The Sunday Times and wore a signature black eye patch — had been taking on artillery fire inside of an apartment building in the city of Homs when the slaying happened. A French photographer was also killed.

Fake Walgreens pharmacist handled over 700,000 prescriptions, state officials say

For more than a decade, Kim T. Le handled hundreds of thousands of prescriptions while she worked as a pharmacist at three Walgreens stores in the Bay Area. She administered vaccinations, ordered medications, counseled patients on their prescriptions and supervised pharmacy technicians, state officials said.

There was just one problem, officials said: Le wasn’t a licensed pharmacist.

State officials alleged that from November 2006 to September 2017, Le unlawfully signed off on or dispensed 745,355 prescriptions, many of which were verified electronically and remotely. More than 100,000 of those prescriptions were for controlled substances such as alprazolam, a sedative used to treat anxiety and panic disorder.

The state Board of Pharmacy will determine whether the three Walgreens stores in Fremont, San Jose and Milpitas should have their pharmacy licenses suspended or revoked.
