The smaller the political subdivision, the bigger the political inbreeding. I wouldn't get involved at anything less than county level if you have a little bit of ethics left.
In the case of my town, the corruption was so bad that I had to get the federal government involved (they have a couple of little-known national security sensitive operations in this place). Now all the pedophiles from the Rotary Club won't talk to me! LOL
