A lot of us made similar mistakes.
The truth about God's word (that man-made religion doesn't want you to know) is that He does not deal with you according to your iniquity/sin, not once you are a born again child of God. He deals with you according to your sinless and righteous nature after being born again of Holy Spirit - all your sin is forgiven, past, present and future (does that mean we continue in sin? God forbid!).
A lot of "religious" men tell you not to bother reading the very books of the bible that are addressed directly to you, us, the born again Christian. These are the Epistles, starting with the book of Romans. Each epistle, in the beginning of each book, you will see who it is addressed to. God is talking directly to you in these books. Very imperative to find out what He has to say about your salvation - and believe me it is FAR greater and FAR better than what religion teaches!!
