It isn't, inherently, anon. But once upon a time, one of the reasons people did black face was to mock black people and/or not have to hire real black people. That, specifically, was racist. And since the left has no concept of anything that resembles nuance, they've decided it's all racist. See: cultural appropriation as well.
Although, I think everyone here knows 99% don't actually care or think it's racially motivated. But they get to virtue signal and scapegoat people they don't like.
