Northam was probably not the one in the photo and this is a political hit job to get rid of him. It seems odd that Opposition research couldn't find a picture like this and expose him when he was calling Gillespie a racist. He screwed up royally with what he said regarding the post birth abortion and they needed to get rid of him! He can't be allowed to speak anymore or else he will tell more truths. The best way to stop the abortion debacle is to use the race card on him. Lesser of 2 evils for them but definitely worth it. They need those babies/blood/organs at all costs!

He apologized because he was already embroiled in the abortion scandal and didn't yet know who his enemy was targeting him for this. His own party is the enemy and he is caught between a rock and hard pace. He either admits to something he is not guilty of or probably has to commit suicide by shooting himself in the back of the head 27 times from 3 feet away.
