You have to look at the fact that Pelosi tweeted for him to resign and Northam went on nationwide live TV and told her to go fuck herself. Some tough hombres have his back.

Best situation for POTUS is to have this guy as a punching bag and poke Pelosi in the eye at the same time. I have to consider that POTUS knows what happened with the blackface scandal and can help Northam if Northam plays along. Better for Northam than designing in disgrace (LOTE) and keeps abortion on the table rather than racism, which is better for POTUS.
