There were obscure bands around back in the 80's that did the Folk/Metal combo thing.
Songs would start out folksy soft then get all metally loud for the chorus.
Soft-Loud-Soft-Loud contrast within the same song.
Fairly sure Nirvana stole that style from some of them.
