This security footage shows the plane broke apart mid-air with what appears to be one engine falling in flames while the fuselage flatspins.

The tail also landed two blocks away (short) of the primary crash site.

Pilot took off from Fullerton. Crash site is due east of there, just before the foothills really start. There's not much in the way of above ground high tension cables there and YL has an all below ground utilities zoning ordinance. I'd say large bird strike more likely.
