Ever hear of a group called Jhpiego? I hadn't until I started trying to figure out/if abortion gets funded through groups other than PP. Answer: Yes. It's shopped out to other groups.

For example, Jhpeigo, an 501c3 affiliate of Johns Hopkins, has rec'd $2.1 Billion dollars to perform family planning exercises in Africa, Haiti, Asia. That's a fuck ton of family planning. And as Cory's Digs article from several breads ago said, don't let the flowery language sway your thoughts. It's about population control and abortion. And that's just ONE group's take.

Here are two more - Population Services International - $923 Million dollars and the Population Council - $393 Million. I've downloaded a CSV file and am taking a look at how PP, Pop. Svc. Int'l and JHpiego services are coded - every contract has a CFDA code and once I get things sorted out, I plan on doing a search to see what else shakes out.

There already looms a big dig - extramural research. Where the govt' shops out the research to colleges and universities. Ugh. Can't wait to get into that one.

It's mind boggling.

Looks like they got ~$600 Million for Kenya Aids/Population/Wimminz Health.

One moar. Family Planning Services. It looks like the money goes from the Feds to the states and then the states subcontract family planning to PP. (With all the money going to PP, I can't help but wonder if the end teenage pregnancy program needs to be re-examined.)
