Problem The President will speak on border security and the wall. The snakes have their practiced responses. They will call this outdated technology. They will appeal to emotion. They will paint illegal immigrants as saints and border enforcement/enforcers as sin. They may even have an orchestrated outburst or mass virtue signaling planned. The talking points are at the ready and the Mockingbirds are eager to sing their tune.
Solution Include verbatim excerpts from Bill Clinton's SOTU speeches on illegal immigration. Pause for reaction, including the expected reactions: the crossed arms, the disgusted looks, the groans and boos and shouts from the peanut gallery, the walkouts of CNN's next guests for the week. Then point out that these are the very words President Bill Clinton delivered in this very place, years ago. years where too many words have translated into too few actions. __ years too many, and enough is enough. Follow up with excerpts from Obama's and Hillary's own lips. It will take the wind out of their sails and set them adrift. If they deliver their planned and practiced response it will fall flat and expose their TDS-driven hypocrisy. If they change it up it will be unprepared and chaotic.
I held this suggestion until the last minute. It's not too difficult to make minor edits to a speech, but it's difficult to formulate new talking points, herd cats, encourage emotional train wrecks to keep their emotions in check after you've pumped them up for their Grand Moment of Activism, and coach ideologues on something that goes entirely against the grain of what they've been practicing.
