Although I don't subscribe to portals, the naming of the IS:IS sparked my almonds. Remember Bill Clinton's famous phrase? "It depends on what the definition of IS, is."

 

In my mind, that was the turning point of modern politics, back in the '90s. I wonder if it was code for something more.

What I'm curious to know, is why the rainbow has not been a historic Symbol. A graphic, an inscription. It would be the obvious choice to represent "Good and Light" as discussed in last bread. And it is obvious why it would be co-opted in modern times to represent the gay community.

 

But why wasn't it being used 1,000, 2,000, 3,000 years ago. You never see it inscribed in stone, or as an areal petroglyph, etc. All we seem to have been handed down are the evil symbols.
