Go back and check your OLD bible … it originally is to be 'thou shat not murder". Because God corrected me when I accused him of being a hypocrite by telling Joshua to kill people but then he told me to go back and read what he really said in the Bible. So I went to the Bible and it says 'thou shalt not murder' then he explained murder grows in the heart and done for self gain… he had Joshua kill to rid the land of the sin and evil that would cause his people to sin. But Joshua screwed up and made a promise to a tribe that God wanted killed off and so they mingled and sin grew.
