There are four states of consciousness possible for man because of the organization of our three centers of intelligence - thinking, feeling and moving/instinctive. Because of the poor conditions of life and lack of proper development, those three centers rarely operate in harmony and the ordinary man experiences only two of those states. Both of which are forms of sleep in which he does not remember himself.
It's true that in the fourth state, what may be referred to as cosmic consciousness, a man cannot remember what he experienced when he returns to his ordinary state and his descriptions are those of the mystics.
But a man who can remember himself is experiencing the third state of consciousness, which is more vivid than his ordinary waking sleep. Plus, in such a state he can 'do'. Otherwise, everything happens and his being attracts his life.
