Saudi Arabia launches office to keep up corruption fight after crackdown

Saudi Arabia has launched a new office to monitor state spending, saying it would help keep up the fight against corruption after the closing of a 15-month crackdown, state media reported.

The financial reporting office would be part of the state’s General Auditing Bureau, which watches out for financial discrepancies, public prosecutor Saud al-Mojeb was quoted saying on Monday by state news agency, SPA.

“Corruption is not restricted to a specific company or government sector. The concerned authorities will be monitoring,” he said, adding that public prosecutors would handle any investigations.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said last week that the crackdown launched in November 2017 - which netted scores of the kingdom’s economic and political elite - had achieved its objectives.

The royal court said the operation had recovered more than $106 billion through settlements with scores of senior princes, ministers and top businessmen.

King Salman said at the time that the government would continue its efforts to combat corruption and protect public funds.

Hackers stole 2.2 billion passwords, and it’s now online for anyone to download

Hackers have been gathering millions of usernames and passwords for the purpose of exploiting the information or selling it on the dark web. However, they’ve deviated from their typical behavior after the latest major breach.

A collection of 2.2 billion unique usernames and associated passwords is being handed out for free on hacker forums and torrents, after a hack called Collection #1, according to Wired.

Troy Hunt, a security researcher said, “the patched-together set of breached databases represents 773 million unique usernames and passwords,” Wired stated.

While that database was obtained by Hunt in early January, more have now been added.

African woman in Britain mutilated her 3-year-old daughter – and used witchcraft to shut authorities up

A woman who mutilated her three-year-old daughter has become the first person in the UK to be found guilty of female genital mutilation (FGM).

The 37-year-old mother from east London wept in the dock as she was convicted after a trial at the Old Bailey.

Spells and curses intended to deter police and social workers from investigating were found at the Ugandan woman’s home, the trial heard.

Her 43-year-old partner was acquitted by the jury.

Prosecutors said the mother “coached” her daughter “to lie to the police so she wouldn’t get caught”.

Minister Szijjarto: “Hungary maintains zero tolerance stance on migration”

Hungary has a policy of zero tolerance for migration and will never back any document that uses the UN’s global migration compact as a point of reference, foreign minister Peter Szijjarto said, responding to a query by MTI.

Peter Szijjarto commented on recent reports by several Hungarian news portals citing a German news agency’s EU diplomatic source as saying that Hungary’s government has refused all of the European Union’s offers of a compromise on a joint position on migration, and has isolated itself within the bloc.

“Pro-migration politicians are continuing to run amok”, the minister said. Every EU document will try to refer to the UN’s global migration compact in spite of the fact that nine EU member states did not vote for it, he added.

The letter was produced by Mr. Stone's lawyer, Grant Smith, who sent it to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees. It details a frightening tale of CNN acting on behalf of the FBI in regard to the continual Russia probe.

British PM May to visit Brussels in search of a Brexit deal

LONDON/BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Prime Minister Theresa May will travel to Brussels on Thursday to tell European Union leaders they must accept legally binding changes to the Irish border arrangements of Britain's divorce deal or face the prospect of a disorderly no-deal Brexit.

The United Kingdom is due to leave the EU in just 52 days, yet London and Brussels are arguing over whether the deal clinched in November can be changed, raising the possibility of a delay to Brexit, a last-minute deal or a no-deal exit.

Since British lawmakers voted down the withdrawal agreement last month, parliament has instructed May to replace its most contentious element - an insurance policy covering the possible future arrangements for the border between EU-member Ireland and the British province of Northern Ireland.

May will meet European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and then European Council President Donald Tusk in Brussels on Thursday.
