When you look at the horizon on a sphere you are looking at a circle where every point is the same distance from your eye, so it looks like a straight line…. no lump. When you watch a ship leave.. you can watch it sink over the horizon. The guy in the crows nest can see a distant ship first because he can see over the horizon farther than someone on deck. Been there done that. Celestial navigation works because the Sun and stars are very far away. And I circumnavigated the Antarctic at 10 knots. Get over it.. The world is round, round I tell you… the world is ROOOooouuuunn……..
