Looks like an energetic explosion/arcing, at the train tracks to me.
Perhaps something was close enough to or across the tracks and created a pathway between the rails at that location as the energy moved down. Remember the arcs traveling down the telephone pole wires in Kenner, Louisiana recently?
The actual energy in electrical transmission is carried in the space between the wires as shown by Eric Dollard. It would actually cause the wires to separate in space when energized in the early telegraph days.
