Families need two incomes because of the keeping-up-with-the-Jones driven expectations of living standards. TV tells you what to buy.
If you want a 1950's standard of living (terrestrial broadcast TV, no internet, no cellphone, 1950's healthcare, etc) the you can do that on one income.
Replace "American" with "Patriot".
