10 Days of Darkness - an Experimental Documentary by Sam Taffel

THE PITCH:

Rjukan is a small, industrial village to the west of Oslo, Norway and for six months of the year it exists in complete shadow. The mountains that surround the town block out the sun and prevent any direct sunlight from entering. After nearly a century of darkness, engineers have installed three mirrors in the mountains that are designed to direct light into the village square. 2013 marks the first year of the "Sun Mirror" project. "10 Days of Darkness" is an existential journey, a documentation of a town where day is night and the sky is split into two halves.
