Want to put out my thought on a possible theory of he the Virginia mess played out.
Northam made his comments on Infanticide. Comments pissed off DNC.
Since they all keep blackmail on each other DNC had Fairfax release the yearbook photos. They expect the calls for Northam to resign will have him do just that. Fairfax just waiting for his chance to take over as governor. This explains why Northam first said it was him not knowing who released it. Once he found out it was his own party he decided to fight back and switched his story.
Since Northam now knows who it was that released the yearbook he tips off the report about Fairfax rape to take some of the heat off him and fights the resignation.
Now that it looks like Herring at some point may become involved in the situation he sees the other two destroying each other and decides to just take himself out of the line of fire on his own terms.
