In the 1980's I had direct experience with some of the hardware used in these ops. The "Killer Eggs" were configured on 2 varieties, and AH (Attack Helicopter) and an MH. I worked on on the AH variety, and at the time they were equipped with 7.62 miniguns and and 2.5 inch FFAR rocket launchers.

I'm sure things have advanced significantly since then.

The MH variety were used in this op, and they were configured with "people pods", the long benches on each side. These benches are used for insertion, as well as extraction activities. They are sometimes used in conjunction with a fast rope setup to deliver operators into tighter insertion areas.

The MH-60, with a fuel probe is real. They can be midair refueled for deep insertion/extraction missions, where external tanks aren't appropriate.

I won't go into much more, but nothing here is classified at this time… but in the 1980's none of this stuff existed, if you get my meaning.
