Joy and tragedy masks … every play had them. Without them, amphitheaters seemed incomplete. These two faces represented the two basic emotions of joy and sorrow. They weren't human faces; they were masks. We are talking about those two faces that have together become the symbol of theatre ― the comedy and tragedy theatre masks.

 

Could be any color … The Phantom of the Opera is a novel by French writer Gaston Leroux … but for the stage … often OUTSIDE stage … it was most probably made white because the dude moved about in darkness … underground … get it? DRAMA to an audience clothed in darkness. Get off the liberal political platform redefining racism. Research and move out of the liberal sheep pasture … and for God's sake THINK FOR YOURSELF!
