Because they believe that Potus put Whitaker as AAG in order to put a stop to the Mueller Witch Hunt, and they’re desperate to allude to it even if they can’t prove it.

It is absolutely common for Presidents to get requests for pardons and for them to discuss this with the AG/DOJ to make their determination. It means nothing for Whitaker to have answered that question in the positive. Not a bombshell.

“I am aware of documents relating to pardons of individuals”

Seems like a pretty innocuous statement considering the AG heads the DOJ, which is the department that processes pardon requests.

We’re reading his body language differently. I saw the long pause as him carefully parsing her question and coming to the conclusion that since she didn’t ask about pardons of any particular person, he could truthfully answer.

To each his own, but I prefer to never get my hopes pumped up about speculation. Less disappointment that way.
