Minority Leader McCarthy News Conference
During his weekly briefing, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told reporters that if House Democratic leadership did not take action against freshmen Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar (MN) and Rashida Tlaib (MI) for what Republicans have called anti-Semitic remarks, then he would do so. When asked if he thought their words were comparable to words used by Rep. Steve King (R-IA), who was condemned by the House for white supremacy remarks, he responded: “Yes and more so.” He also discussed on-going negotiations between Democrats and Republicans over funding for border security as well as the late Rep. John Dingell (D-MI).
