I prefer single coils for clean and humbuckers distorted.
Strats and Les Pauls are different species.
There are Teles and there are strats.
Lions and tigers.
Lions are the king of the jungle, but tigers are the bigger of the two.

Can't beat either, but a Les Paul is a bit beefier.
