Suspected pedophile fired by Wright-Patterson after working there for 9 months

An Air Force base employee who reportedly discussed child rape fantasies and visiting child pornography sites in a previous federal job interview was terminated last month, after service officials learned of the interview in September.

The worker, whose name was not disclosed, was hired at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, and employed from April 16 to Jan. 23, according to a base statement. An investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations is underway.

On Wednesday, ABC affiliate WCPO in Cincinnati reported that the man had discussed his fantasies with a federal agency in March.

The man stated that he was attracted to girls as young as 6 but preferred 10-year-olds, according to a Dec. 28 search warrant affidavit filed in federal court and posted on WCPO’s website. The man also disclosed that he had communicated online with minors, according to the affidavit.

It was not clear which agency the man interviewed with and base officials in Ohio did not immediately respond to queries about the hiring process.

Thousands protest in Madrid against government’s Catalonia policy

MADRID (Reuters) - Thousands of people demonstrated in Madrid on Sunday against Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez's proposed talks to ease political tensions in Catalonia, in a protest organized by center-right and far-right opposition parties.

Demonstrators waving Spanish flags filled the Plaza de Colon in the city center in the largest protest Sanchez has faced, with their slogan "For a united Spain, elections now!" a reminder of the pressure on his minority government.

The Socialist government's proposal last Tuesday to appoint a rapporteur in talks among political parties to address the Catalan independence crisis galvanized the opposition, which has deemed it a betrayal and a surrender to pressure from Catalan separatists. The opposition has called for early elections.

Sanchez, who replaced a conservative government last June, holds just a quarter of the seats in parliament and relies on backing from anti-austerity party Podemos, Catalan nationalists and other small parties to pass laws.

The government faces a key vote next Wednesday on its 2019 budget proposal, which will likely fail without the support of Catalan parties. But those parties have said their vote for the budget is conditional on the Catalan talks including the issue of independence, something the government will not include.

Migrant and Muslim populations skyrocket to record heights in German prisons

More and more foreign nationals are sitting in German prisons nationwide according to a survey by “Rheinische Post”. In two states every other person is a foreign national.

In North-Rhine-Westphalia prisoners came from 113 nations, 42 were stateless and 108 were from unknown origins. The most strongly represented countries are lead by Turkey and followed in order by Morocco, Poland and Romania.

The Islamic prison population has also strongly increased in the last two years. It has been between 20 to 30 per cent in 2017 and is now at 45 percent.

This trend is represented even more so in Berlin and Hamburg with foreigners making up 51 and 61 per cent of the total inmates, experiencing growths of 6 and 8 per cent respectively.

France And Germany Cut A Deal To Save The EU's Appalling #CopyrightDirective – Demolishing Internet Freedom

The EU's on-again/off-again Copyright Directive keeps sinking under its own weight: on the one side, you have German politicians who felt that it was politically impossible to force every online platform to spend hundreds of millions of euros to buy copyright filters to prevent a user from infringing copyright, even for an instant, and so proposed tiny, largely cosmetic changes to keep German small businesses happy; on the other side, you have French politicians who understand that the CEOs of multinational entertainment companies won't stand for any compromise, or even the appearance of compromise, and so the process fell apart.

That is until Chancellor Merkel and President Macron sat down to broker a deal, in which Merkel caved on every single measure that even looked like it might protect small businesses, co-operatives, nonprofits, and individuals, ending up with a deal that guarantees that every existing small platform will be destroyed and no new ones can be started, leaving Europe in the hands of US Big Tech – forever.

Under the new deal, any platform where the public can communicate will have to buy copyright filters to intercept all public communications and compare them to a database of so-called "copyrighted works" (which anyone, anywhere, can add anything to), and then block anything that appears to be a match.

Not only will these cost hundreds of millions of euros to develop and maintain, they will also block mountains of legitimate speech – speech that uses copyrighted works but falls under fair dealing, speech that is incorrectly identified as containing copyrighted works, speech that is deliberately suppressed by trolls, censors and frauds who deliberately claim ownership over works in the public domain, or works that other people hold the copyright to.

Turkish migrant Kills Austrian Official for Denying his Asylum Application

A Turkish migrant is suspected of killing an Austrian official who had denied his application for asylum, according to local media.

Alexander Alge, head of the Social Welfare Office in Vorarlberg, was stabbed to death in his office following a dispute with the suspect over the processing of welfare benefits.

The suspect had reportedly visited the office on multiple occasions and aggressively demanded, “Where is the money?”

“On Wednesday, finally, the man had penetrated directly into the office of the social worker and again demanded the money,” Vorarlberg Online reports. “The 34-year-old was assured that the matter would be settled on the same day – i.e. on Wednesday. As a result, the man, who reemerged again, left the office, only to return half an hour later with a kitchen knife and commit the bloody deed.”

The suspect had lived previously in Austria, but in 2009 was banned from staying anywhere in the European Union after being convicted of a slew of offenses and serving multiple prison sentences.

His 2009 residence ban was reportedly signed by his victim.

“In 2010, the accused was expelled to Turkey,” Kurier reports. “The murder victim had signed the negative asylum decision.”

Incredibly, the Ministry of the Interior has indicated the suspect may still be granted humanitarian protection status as he has claimed to have fought with Kurdish forces and killed Turkish soldiers, thus increasing the likelihood that he could face death in Turkey if deported.

Brutal rape of 5-year-old girl in Sierra Leone becomes rallying point for a national emergency

Last year, a 28-year-old man in Sierra Leone was accused of raping a five-year-old relative – paralysing her from the waist down.

He never faced punishment for the horrific incident, which drew outrage across the West African nation of 7.5 million and brought attention to the country’s high rate of sexual violence.

“She may never walk again, and I want vengeance for what has happened,” the girl’s grandmother told Reuters.

“The man who did this ruined her life and deserves to spend his life in prison.”

But on Thursday, President Julius Maada Bio responded to the outcry over that rape and other violent acts against young girls by declaring a national emergency.
