It's this age of instant gratification we live in now. I'm old enough to know better, but even I find myself frustrated at times, having to wait for the things we already know about to break into public awareness.
It started yesterday. The thing is, when the tax law went into effect, and people were bringing home more net pay, they should have checked their withholding and submitted a new W-4 if they wanted a bigger refund. Even without making a change, most likely the reduced refunds were offset by more net pay anyway.
I'm pretty solidly in the middle class range and personally, I had to pay about 1000-1500 less in taxes for the year. I don't have state income tax, though, and I know the effect on those that do could be quite different.
Early returns were showing about 8.4% lower than last year. That's what was on the news yesterday.
