In regards to making sure this never happens again: When the dust settles after this is over, I urgently request contact about this. There are ways technology can help do this. It can be done 100% transparently and with the blessing of all citizens (even with the input of the corrupt and naive.) I believe I know how. It is an incredibly simple technical solution that has vast implications. Not trivial (conceptually), but it is not only possible but well within the bounds of obvious, IMHO.
I requested contact in 12/17 as well. I'm sure you know who I am.
