Vatican’s homophobic hypocrisy: 80 percent of priests are gay, explosive book reveals

Around 80 percent of Vatican priests are gay, according to a new book which details alleged secret relationships, male prostitutes and stunning hypocrisy from the most anti-gay members of upper echelons of the Catholic Church.

French journalist Frederic Martel’s new book, ‘In the Closest of the Vatican,’ claims that the more homophobic the priest, the more likely they are to be gay.

While not all the priests detailed in the 570-page book act on their sexual preferences, many are allegedly engaging in relationships with their fellow fathers, while some prefer casual hook ups and others are hiring male prostitutes, according to the review in Catholic publication the Tablet.

Green Across The Board: World Stocks Follow U.S. Markets Higher As Optimism Surges

Stocks around the world are swimming in a sea of green Wednesday morning as optimism continues to grow about possible resolutions to some of the major geopolitical issues haunting the markets. The S&P 500 Index starts the day above its 200-day moving average for the first time in more than two months.

A double-dose of good news got the U.S. market back on a positive track Tuesday after several days of malaise, and the U.S. gains spread overseas to Europe and Asia early Wednesday. Stocks are reacting to hopes for a deal to potentially avoid a government shutdown this weekend, along with the potential for a looser deadline for China trade negotiations. President Trump said Tuesday he might let the early March deadline slip if progress is being made. Talks between the two countries resume this week, and there were media reports early Wednesday that China’s President Xi might meet with U.S. negotiators.

Iran’s supreme leader says ‘no problem’ with America can be resolved

No problem with the United States can be resolved and negotiations are a loss, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Wednesday. The statement was published on his official website. “With regard to America, no problem can be resolved and negotiations with it has nothing but economic and spiritual loss,” he said. Khamenei added in the statement that the Iranian people “see some European countries as cunning and untrustworthy.” He recommended the government to “carefully preserve its boundaries with them.”

Truth In Advertising

When consumers see or hear an advertisement, whether it’s on the Internet, radio or television, or anywhere else, federal law says that ad must be truthful, not misleading, and, when appropriate, backed by scientific evidence. The Federal Trade Commission enforces these truth-in-advertising laws, and it applies the same standards no matter where an ad appears – in newspapers and magazines, online, in the mail, or on billboards or buses. The FTC looks especially closely at advertising claims that can affect consumers’ health or their pocketbooks – claims about food, over-the-counter drugs, dietary supplements, alcohol, and tobacco and on conduct related to high-tech products and the Internet. The FTC also monitors and writes reports about ad industry practices regarding the marketing of alcohol and tobacco.

When the FTC finds a case of fraud perpetrated on consumers, the agency files actions in federal district court for immediate and permanent orders to stop scams; prevent fraudsters from perpetrating scams in the future; freeze their assets; and get compensation for victims.

Admiral: LCS will hunt drug smugglers

A littoral combat ship is slated to deploy to the waters of U.S. Southern Command this year to battle drug smugglers, its top officer told lawmakers Thursday.

SOUTHCOM commander Adm. Craig Faller declared America’s opioid epidemic “a national security crisis” during a hearing before the Senate Armed Services committee and said an LCS will patrol South American and Caribbean waters to interdict illicit narcotics.

While 2017 and 2018 were record years for drug seizures in his command, Faller said much work remains to be done.

The admiral did not identify which LCS would undertake the mission but indicated it also could be available for exercises and other duties alongside partner nations the SOUTHCOM’s area of responsibility, a sprawling command that sprawls across 31 countries and 16 dependencies and represents about one-sixth of the world’s landmass.
